CHE Ranking for Master's programmes: Outstanding Results for the Study of Mathematics at the University of Bayreuth

The Master’s degree programmes in Mathematics at the University of Bayreuth receive outstanding ratings in the Germany-wide ranking published today by the Center for Higher Education Development (CHE). The University of Bayreuth is in the leading group when it comes to supporting its Master’s students in mathematics studies. It also scores above the national average in other key criteria, such as individual supervision and the social climate between students and lecturers.

The very good results of the ranking are based on a CHE survey among Bayreuth’s Master's students in mathematics. The students appreciate the mentoring system at the University of Bayreuth, which strengthens the individual support of the students.

They give equally high marks for the teachers' pronounced didactic abilities and their willingness to engage in dialogue, especially when it comes to discussing homework and exams or making suggestions for improvement. The support of seminar lectures and presentations, the reliable provision of high-quality materials for courses and examinations, as well as the necessary information on the organisation of studies, are also highly rated by the Bayreuth Master’s students above the national average. According to their assessment, the different parts of the courses within the Master’s degree programmes in Mathematics are perfectly coordinated. The number of participants in the courses is not considered to be unreasonably high: the individual support and support of the students on the Bayreuth Campus is guaranteed.

“As teachers of mathematics, we are particularly pleased with the new CHE Ranking of Master's programmes because it shows that our Master's students have a great deal of confidence in the professional and didactic quality of the Study of Mathematics at Bayreuth. The ranking results in mathematics show once again that the Campus-University of Bayreuth is very well positioned in Germany with its credo “class instead of mass,“ said Prof. Dr. Michael Stoll, Managing Director of the Department of Mathematics of the University of Bayreuth.

The University of Bayreuth offers the following Master’s degree programmes in Mathematics: Mathematics (M. Sc. ), Technomathematik / Computational Mathematics (M. Sc. ), Business Mathematics (M. Sc. ) and Scientific Computing (M. Sc. ).
