Economathematics, Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.)

Here, prospective business mathematicians complete a degree in mathematics with an integrated university education in economics and computer science. During their studies, they learn how to apply their mathematical knowledge in economic contexts with the help of state-of-the-art information technology. As graduates, they are highly sought-after in the insurance and financial sector, in industry, and in public administration for their ability to think abstractly and their confidence in logical thinking. Their ability to understand and mathematically model economic problems and to use IT technology to quantitatively assess complex relationships makes a substantial contribution to the economic success of their employers.

Starting your studies is quite demanding and challenging with the two math lectures Analysis and Linear Algebra. However, you are never left on your own. There is a learning center where you can always get help with the exercise sheets and other questions. (...) I think the composition of the degree program is very good, as most of it is math, but compared to the math bachelor's program, you have two “minor subjects” with computer science and economics and don't have to take some lectures from pure mathematics. I think it's good to have basic knowledge in these two areas for your future career. (...) In addition to the basic mathematical content, the course focuses on applied mathematics, such as optimization and statistics, in which most students specialize towards the end of the course. (...)
