Social & Cultural Anthropology, Bachelor of Arts (B.A.)

The Bachelor's programme "Social & Cultural Anthropology" thrives on the proven and Bayreuth-specific combination of cultural and social anthropological approaches. It expands the characteristic African reference of the University of Bayreuth by methodological, theoretical, and conceptual approaches from other regions, which is indispensable for a basic education.

Studying Social & Cultural Anthropology  in Bayreuth gives me the opportunity to deal with issues that are important to me: Current problems in society as a whole, such as gender inequality and racism. Due to the relatively small number of students, you are very well supervised by the lecturers and lively discussions can arise in the seminars where you can really contribute your own thoughts. I feel right at home in Bayreuth, and am glad to live in a small town where you can quickly make new contacts and can almost always reach friends in 10 minutes by bike.
