Religious Studies, Master of Arts (M.A.)
Are you interested in religions and their interactions with culture, politics, and society? Do you expect from your studies both thematic diversity and careful individual supervision? The Master's programme in Religious Studies offers you this.
Like almost everywhere else, The Department for the Study of Religion in Bayreuth is not the biggest – but compared to many counterparts, it is exceptionally well-positioned. There is very good supervision by the professors and other lecturers, and a wide variety of topics, both historical and contemporary. If students wish to read certain texts, discuss topics, or try out new methods, they always find an open ear and critical discussion is always welcome. Especially at the master's level, it is great to study and be supported in Religious Studies in Bayreuth!
This degree programme is taught in German.
Good knowledge of German is an essential prerequisite to successfully completing the degree programme. Proof of German language proficiency at B2 level or equivalent is required for admission. For detailed information, please see the German version of the study programme site.
