The Global Game Jam is an event in which video and board games are created within 48 hours on a given theme, slogan or proverb. The theme is announced by the official founders of the GGJ worldwide at the same time. It is also an opportunity to get to know new people from different study programs or cities, share common interests and find new allies. After 48 hours, all the games created, whether complete or not, will be presented on Sunday.

There are various rooms at the University of Bayreuth with around 30 computers on which programs such as Unity 3D, Game Maker Studio, 3ds Max, Adobe Suite, etc. are installed. However, if possible, the makers expressly recommend that you bring your own laptop/computer so that everyone can be active. The basic versions of the programs Unity 3D and Game Maker Studio are available free of charge on the Internet.

Conditions of participation

Anyone over the age of 18 who is interested in games can take part in the Global Game Jam. In addition to programmers, artists, copywriters, musicians and designers, people with an affinity for games and no previous experience in game production are also welcome

Registration at https://gamejam.uni-bayreuth.de/ is desirable for better planning of catering and T-shirts, but not mandatory.
