Following the success of the 2022 MAU Bayreuth conference, there will be a new edition in the anniversary year of the University of Bayreuth. Students can apply as "delegates" and then represent a member state of the African Union, advocating for its policies. They participate in committee sessions, negotiate resolutions, and collaborate with other delegates. They conduct thorough research on political, social, and economic issues, engage in high-level debates, negotiate with peers, and draft resolutions on critical African policy issues. Students can enhance their leadership and communication skills, intercultural competencies, and understanding of regional politics and international relations. The outcome is a network of like-minded individuals who are interested in the future of Africa. The overarching theme is "Africa and the Changing Geopolitical Landscape - Managing Uncertainties and Seizing Opportunities in a Multipolarizing World."
Thought leaders, policymakers, and experts from Africa and beyond will participate and enrich the event. The program also includes panel discussions and workshops with researchers and activists from Africa and Europe. In addition, there are Q&A sessions with prominent guests, including H.E. Ambassador Salah S. Hammad (Head of the AGA Secretariat) and H.E. Stella Mokaya Orina (Kenya's Ambassador to Germany), as well as cultural events, including an art exhibition, film screenings, and a gala night.
Applications for delegates are open until April 6, 2025: https://forms.gle/iBufNpetdGv2FfGw6
