Sports Law, Master of Laws (LL.M.)

As far back as the early 1980s, the first research group in Germany with a focus on sports law was established at the University of Bayreuth. This is because an increasingly professional sports sector requires a focus in the training of lawyers. In addition to questions of club and association law, criminal law in sport, constitutional law, liability and procedural law, marketing law, labour and revenue law, international law (European law and international contract law), copyright law, media law, competition law and cartel law, the question of sports jurisdiction (and arbitration) has come to the fore, and not just since the "Pechstein trial".
